I have fallen and been hurt the most times by my back truck catching on what I am trying to ollie over. Here are some suggestions to help avoid any further heartbreak (or wrist break).
- Make sure to have your ollies down to an art before you try to jump over something big. Test how high your ollie is with something that will give a little or fall over if your back truck happens to catch on it. You can use an Ollie 'O' Meter, which you can find in the Guides and Tips page right here on the site.
- If you make a homemade rail, try to bend or crush the end that you will be approaching.

Now tell me, which one do you think will not catch on your back truck as much?
On a slightly different note, to avoid falling and hurting yourself on grinds: WAX, lots of wax. Wax will keep your trucks from stopping, and when your skateboard stops, you will most of the time continue moving (at the ground at a rapid speed).
