Hippy jump trick tip

The hippy jump is an oldschool trick where you jump over an obstacle while your board goes under it.

This trick is suited for beginners. Advanced skateboarders can combine it with any flip trick out there.

(Video by randomdonkey)

  1. 1

Ride with enough speed to clear the obstacle. Put your feet on the bolts. Don't put your back foot on the tail (unless you're combining with another trick).

  2. 2

When you're nearing the obstacle, crouch down a little and jump over it.

  3. 3

Land with your feet on the bolts and bend your legs a little to absorb the impact.

Tips

  • Don't push your board away in either direction when you jump.

  • Instead of jumping over in one go, try footplanting the obstacle.
