Pumping in a ramp trick tip

Pumping is a way to get some height in a ramp. I'll explain starting from the bottom of the ramp, so you don't need to drop in. But if you drop in, you can still use this technique to maintain or increase your altitude.

This technique works by moving your center of gravity, like in a swing.

  1. 1

    Start at the bottom of a big bowl, halfpipe or vert ramp, then you can go pretty high without having to worry about hitting the coping.



  2. 2

    Give yourself some starting speed by pushing. The faster/higher you initially go, the easyer it gets.



  3. 3

    Just before you're at your highest point, stretch your legs out and push the board yet a little higher.



  4. 4

    Immediately after that, bend your legs and push the board down again.[step]

    [step]Roll back in fakie and repeat the same at the other side of the ramp. Every time, you should go a little higher.


Tips

  • Don't worry if you can't do this in the beginning. Just like any other trick, it requires practise.

  • You can do a kickturn everytime instead of going back fakie, but you'll lose some speed.

you still need good berrings for that, but you'll get stronger legs after pumping with bad ones ^^
